hi to all i just bought aa 1851 brass frame for parts, it was damaged beyond repair but most parts are still good . i also have an1851 that is like new ,i want to use the back strap off the junker but it seems alittle shorter than the new one the old one was made for a shoulder stock but the new one isn't any ideas or help would be appreciated . i have the stock .

Use the one that allows the stock. With the stock you will get better accuracy. Use the parts to
assemble another 1851. Plenty of parts around. people seem to underestimate the power
of the 1851. What they forget is the added accuracy of the 1851. Nothing points easier,
or puts shots in target better than the little Colt. Get all you can get of these Colts. These
were highly prized by pioneers who valued what worked, and worked well.
