I just aquired a BP Revolver,on the left side it says Iver Johnson cal44, on the barrel it says A Uberti and Gardone V.T.on theother side it says 1858 New Army 44.can someone tell me what size RB it would take?. i have not slugged the bore yet, thanks George. the revolver is in really good condition.

Just use a caliper on the cylinder, that's where the key fit is.
The 58 Rem is/was a 44 and it's a good bet if you use .454 ball.

Years ago Iver Johnson decided to get in on the popularity of Cap & Ball pistols so they imported them from Italy.
Your "1858 New Army" is a recreation of the Remington made Civil War army pistol.

Uberti is one of the very best makers of these guns so your pistol should be a good one.

The .44 caliber guns shoot .451 or .454 diameter lead roundballs.

Yup. :)

The ball must be larger than the cylinders chambers so it will shear off some lead and be tight after it is loaded.

When the gun is fired, a sheet of flame will cover the entire cylinder face and keeping this flame out of the still loaded chambers is a must.
