1858 or 1860, How do I tell?

Have a 44 cal that came in a Lyman box. It has Lyman, Middlefield, Conn, Made in Italy, black powder only, 44 Cal. and the the Uberti mark on the barrel. How do you tell the difference? So which is it, an 1858 or an 1860?

does it look like a Colt or Remington? Open top or solid , like a modern gun?.....Open top Colt other ...Remington

That's the big difference, as well as the Remmy should have an octagon barrel as well as a center pin that retracts (after putting the loading lever down off of it's retaining clip) so the cylinder comes out of the revolver.

The 1858 is called the Remington New Model Army and the 1860 is called the Colt 1860 Army. Here's a link to see what we're talking about: www.uberti.com .
