I picked up a Richland Arms 1858 recently, steel frame, #10 CCI caps won’t fit but Remington10 do fit. I was surprised that their is a difference in the size between manufacturers. I can’t find Remington caps anywhere. At least I have a friend who gave me a couple of tins for now.

Maybe this will help.

Another thing that should be a sticky.

From an earlier post:

If the tip measures 0.156, then use #10 caps.

If the tip measures 0.165, then use #11 caps.

Tannehill, I've found the same thing on a couple of my Remingtons. One option is to sand or file down the diameter of the nipple so CCIs fit or check some of the other threads for information on nipples that fit CCI caps. With the breakup of Remington it would be anyone's guess as to when their brand of caps will be available again.

Have sized all my caplock and revolver nipples to my prefered caps of that time. Here is a method from a National champion...Size down ; chuck in drill or drill press . file down to size checking for fit as you go....Size up; Swage opening with hammer and nail gently...If you go a little far use reverse method...c
