This is how I modified the front on my Pietta 1862 snubby in order to have it shoot to point of aim. First I removed the sight from it's dovetail and clamped it in a vise. Next I cut off one of the sight blade supports and removed the blade. I then filed the remaining blade support into a triangular shape, shortened the sight base, sanded and blued the new sight, and remounted it in the barrel. Hopefully this will raise the point of impact to about the right spot!

Cool looking little pistol. have you shot it with the new sight configuration? Do you have one of those cylinder loaders that you use outside the pistol, or do you use some kind of ramrod through the vacant rammer hole ?

SCATTERSHOT ,

No, I havent had a chance to shoot it since I modified the sight. However, I did the same to a previous 1862 snubby that I did own and it shot to point of aim afterwards. This gun comes with a brass rod that is inserted through the rammer hole to load the balls. Only thing is you have no leverage this way and so loading requires a hammer to seat the balls.
