Made this horn for my son's 18th BDay. Halfway into it he says " I don't think I'm going to hunt this year". OK. I still think he liked it.
I removed the nails holding the plug and replaced with apple thorns and smoothed them off. Finished staining
the spout and put the staple in the plug. Anyway, I'm hoping he keeps it for a long time.

think it looks prtty good myself, but I do have a question. what happened to the plug? looks like it got chewed a little or is that just the angle of the camera? don't mean to be rude I'm just curious! Like I said it looks good and I like your chip carving on the plug - I need to learn how to do that! :hatsoff:

I thought it would be interesting to use wormy curly maple on the plug. As it turns out, I wish I hadn't. Also I turned the plug a bit too small and couldn't get it flush.

I figured it was a buggie attack. Natural look is fine. Wouldn't have noticed anything ary with the fit if you hadn't mentioned it.
If he doesn't keep it for life it would mean he was dropped on his head at birth.
That is a true proud, heritage gift from father to son. Beautiful at several levels. :applause:

yeah, I had to go back and look at the fit again, cuz I didn't notice it!
