I have been buying period axe heads and would like to put new hickory handles on them
The original handles are straight
Some have a fawns foot end
Any one know where to get some?

I know its not period correct but I put a piece of straight rattan in a tomahawk head. Its damn near indestructible and after a good stain you have to really look to see what it is. Most people dont know so they ask what kind of wood it is.

Mr. Big:

I would recommend a double-bit axe handle. There is acompany called Link Handles that makes replacements for axes, hatchets and shovels, etc. You can also get a piece of KILN DRIED ash or hickory and make one from scratch.
