I LOVE it in my cheek slapper 20GA. It patterns best and the felt recoil is not at all bad (3f is one you shoot once and wait a month for the cheek bone to heal!). My brother Nathan across the pond is also correct that I hold t wrong but until I have a mentor correct me I shoot as I shoot and 1F is REAL nice. Have 6 lbs of it!

Tried in my hawkinish investarms .58. 3/4" group at 65 yds?

Can't say if preferred. I only have experience with 1 1/2 Fg. Swiss in a 20 ga. flint fowler. Ignition was near impossible, even with touch hole enlargement and changes. But, if it works for you it works. Good luck.

An old member of this forum, now past, Brownbear, did a fair amount of testing and a lot of field work in Alaska, where he lived. He was pretty clear that Fg gave tighter patterns than FFg. I've been happy enough with FFg not to worry, but I expect that Blackbear had it right.

Brown bear is sorely missed.
Iirc insisted on using modern wads in his muzzloaders. That is why he had to use the slowest miserable powder he did.
I followed his example, didn't work. No power.

1F has always patterned better than 2f in all my smoothbores. And there is a noticable difference recoil wise if your recoil sensitive. It works for me but you need to test an use whats best for you
