Hi all!

... was laid up last week for minor surgery (ouch!) so I decided it was high time I made a decent sheath for my very HEAVY 'Rimpler' throwing knife.

I had on hand some > 1/8” thick heavy leather to use. Once I was set on the simple outline pattern, I sat on my couch and would 'drill' 5-10 holes, then stitch. You know the welt? That thick piece used as a spacer? On this sheath that welt is 'J'-shaped and starts down one side, turns the corner at the bottom, and then starts back up the other side. I cut it a tad oversize so it could be trimmed after stitching. I intentionally wanted the bottom of the sheath to be solid and not have a cut or seam where the 2 welts coming down each side met up or joined.

Well, somewhere along the line, not 3” into sewing (saddle stitching?) down from the top the 2nd thread on the back-side of the sheath, that runs thru the loop, broke. Durn it, now what do I do ... ? So I got the NEAT IDEA to temporarily 'pin' the sheath together using round wooden toothpicks. Then I pre-drilled all my stitching holes and then spliced the back-line back together.

Whaddya think? My 1st attempt ...

Nice "save" and it is looking good! Your throwing knife looks almost identical to one of mine; made back in the 70s by a rendezvous acquaintance who later became a good friend.
