1st model 1836 Colt Paterson replica, .36 caliber, 12” barrel that was manufactured by MOFRA (Mainardi Officina Fabrica Replica Armi or Mainardi Official Manufacturer of Replica Arms) in Italy in 1966 and was imported by Replica Arms Inc, Marietta, Ohio.

Yes, it has been fired, just not by me, so it isn’t “unfired” but the Paterson is in exceptionally good condition considering it’s 54 years old and the bore is really in very good, maybe considered, excellent condition. There are some handling marks on it as you can see in the photos.

Price: $850 Shipped

I am open to trades.

Nice to see one of the first reproduction pistols that were produced way back when I had hair.
I got my first store bought reproduction 1849 baby dragoon .36 cal. in 1966.
That 49er and ten pounds of Wichester buck ( sg or 00 buck ) shot kept me shooting for a long time.
Someone is going to get a nice old collectable for a very fair price.

Yes, it is a really nice reproduction of the 1st model Paterson and having the 12" barrel is not what you would normally see.
Like you, I got into black powder shooting in the late 60's, while living in Richmond, joining the N-SSA in 1969, and in the 2nd VA CAV.
That was a wonderful time and they used to have a dance Saturday evening at the Fort. I dropped out due to work and other issues and didn't rejoin until a few years ago. I still shoot the Zouave I bought in 1969.

I was going through some of my old American Rifleman magazines and found that in January of 2008 there was a really good article about the Colt Paterson.

In this article I found that my Paterson is a No. 5 model and they were produced between 1836 and 1841. A barrel lengths of the No. 5 could be anywhere between 4" and 12" and all were in .36 caliber. This was the model that the Texas Ranges had with 9" barrels and was called the "Texas Paterson". The 12" barrel was normally a extra barrel ordered with the No. 5.

Sorry I called it a #1 as I didn't know until today that it's actually a No. 5 Model Paterson.

Wish you could make a modification to a post to be able to correct an error you made.
