I just picked up a T/C New Englander with a walnut stock and bot a .50 cal. rifle and .12 ga. shotgun barrel with IC/Mod/ full choke tubes. Not sure if i am going to keep it or sell it. Anyone got an idea what it might be worth. I saw one in .12 ga with walnut stock go for $286 a couple days ago on auction Arms. Figure this one with 2 barrels should be worth $300-$350, especially since S&W bought out T/C. What you guys think? And Fox Ridge still lists barrels for them. You can get a .54 cal barrel for $140 and have one gun with different barrels to hunt everything with.

Yea, they were and now the Renegade is too. Maybe the Hawken will be next, who knows. But do you have any idea what one might be worth? I know the best answer is whatever someone is willing to pay for it, but kind of a ballpark figure would be nice.

Rebel,
I had one of them Combos once.I sold it.Probably one of the Biggest mistakes I ever made.
Oh well,I guess it might be worth a "Few" Bucks just to take it off your hands.... :winking: PM me
:hmm:

I believe I paid $180 for a New Englander cylinder bore shotgun kit and another $110 for the .50 barrel. Both from Midsouth Shooters Supply in about 1987/88.

Still have 'em and I think it's a dandy little percussion. Lots of fun scaring grouse and rolling bunnies with shot and the rifle I carry most of our regular deer season here.

The rifle did take some work to find the right load (and is one of the motivators for my home brew lubes). I added some tacks to mine to give it some character and for better grip when wearing gloves or mittens.

I would guess 300 would be about right.

I have the CVA version. With the fifty barrel, it is a very nice deer gun. I wish I could find the thickwall cylinder barrel for mine!

Thanks guys. Stumpkiller, i seem to recall you saying yours was hard to find an accurate load for. What load are you using in it now for deer?

Don't know if this will help...

I picked up a brand new (old stock) Toledo Arms 12GA barrel for my TC Renegade 54 a couple of years ago... half octagon/half round, but it doesn't have interchangeable chokes. I paid something like $225-$250 for it.

I have nearly the same combo except I have the .54 barrel and a second full choke tube. I picked up the 12 ga (with 4 tubes) for $200 in excellent condition and found the new-in-the box .54 barrel from Numrich for $80 both within the last two years. With shipping costs, I have just over $300 total in the combo. I've taken quail, chukar and a cow elk with mine this year. I think it's a really great combo to have and probably won't ever sell mine for that reason. You might want to think hard before letting it go as you'll probably kick yourself really hard sometime if you do!!

84gr FFg Goex, 0.018" cotton patch, just enough Moose Snot to fill the weave and a 0.0490" cast ball, and I have been putting a dry vegetable fiber wad under the patched ball to keep the lube off the powder while hunting. Doesn't seem to help or hurt the accuracy. The 84 gr seems like a strange measure, but that is what the third click on my adjustable measure threw and so that is what I used when I made the bone measure for that rifle.

In the shot barrel I use 75gr FFg and 1-1/4 oz #6 chilled shot. 1/8" Overpowder wad and a fiber wad rolled in a lube of equal parts Crisco/mutton tallow/beeswax or wiped with Moose Snot by finger. Topped with a overshot card that has a nick in it so the air can escape. Otherwise they can "pop" off the shot after the rammer is pulled out.

Iknow my name isn't Stumpkiller but here is my New Englander Deer load.....90 Grains OF 3F,.490 ball patched with some cut at the muzzle pillow ticking .018.
Kills them Dead.
