both were made from an old plow/disc blade...
1-oak handle steel pins..
overall-9 1/4
blade 5
handle 4 1/4
2-whitetail antler w/alum.guard and cap
overall 10 1/2
blade 6 1/4
handle 4 1/4

I am kinda partial to the one on the left with the wooden handle but, the other one good lookin too.

But I think you need to send me the antler handle one for further testing.

SWEET, ME how did you anchor the antler grip/handle to the blade. TIA, uncrichie.
 
Ya ought to give us a few more ideas on how you made the knives. Did you cut the blades out with a torch? How did the steel harden up? Did you run into any trouble working with the disks?

I have a couple of disks laying around and I'm thinking about making one of them into knives. The first and largest one I made into a fire pit that's suspended on 3/8" square stock. It looks a little like a flower planter but but works real nice to start fires in. My kids love roasting marshmellows over an open fire in the back yard.

loyd i use a tourch to cut the disc i ct it into 2"/3" wide pcs.the length of the disc it is about 20"dia..worked at brightred low orange temps..burns alot of coal to forge these blades..
tempered godd anealed in the oven at 400 deg for 1 hour...i used jb weld for the antler handle one.to hold it on.use 6013 welding rods for my pins..
