Ok here it goes. I have 2 questions here. First: I am using a 40 grain fffg charge with a conical(180 grain buffalo bullet) then a wad with a little grease for some lube. It fits!! And is fairly accurate up to 25 yards, but I am worried that maybe I will explode the cylinder or barrel is 40 grains too much?? The second question is this: I am dead on at 30 feet but when I get past this the groups start to drop, without changing the charge how do I raise the group since it is a rounded fixed front site?

no you will not blow the cylinder. i do not use a wad i just fill the space with crisco that way when you shoot it gets lube on the base pin and every thing else but then that is part of shooting a b-p pistol.

your bullet is dropping because it does not have that much speed and will drop faster. but then a 25yd. zero is not bad. in fact that is what every one wants. but is you do want to raise it you would file the front sight.

Thanks for the help. Just so you know it is a 25 FOOT zero. Not a 25 yard. at 25 yds it is about 4-6 inces low left.

You're not going to overcharge a bp revolver. Can't get enough powder in it to do that. Try round balls. Most revolvers shoot 4-6 inches high at 25 ft.

How much powder will a 58 Remington hold with a round ball?Mine says 30 grain max charge but at 30g charge the loading lever is bottomed out. I know I can use filler but was just curious how much powder they actually hold.

I`m loading 35 grains of FFF then a wad and ball with crisco over it.
The ball is just below the face of the cylinder.
