Gettin a buddy ready for his first dive into flintlock Turkey hunting. Thought Curly Maple was a good starting point.
Nice looking gun but curious about your intended load in a .20 caliber gun. Being a big smaller that a 22RF it seems about the minimum for a rat hunt, but definitely will leave you under gunned when hunting turkey. Unless maybe there was a typo and you are talking about a 20 gauge or .62” caliber.Gettin a buddy ready for his first dive into flintlock Turkey hunting. Sure looks like a 20 gauge to me, typo or no typo.Nice looking gun but curious about your intended load in a .20 caliber gun. It could be a heavy barreled .20” caliber gun, or possibly a bit of sarcasm on my part. What do you think?Sure looks like a 20 gauge to me, typo or no typo.
Maybe a heavy barreled .32.It could be a heavy barreled .20” caliber gun, or possibly a bit of sarcasm on my part. What do you think?
Could be. That’s what many call their .20. Or was that their .62.Maybe a heavy barreled .32.
Think so too.Could be. That’s what many call their .20. Or was that their .62.
Got to believe the OP fat fingered a good old fashioned typo.
.20 ga. Smoothbore (.62 cal. When fed round ball ) Previous patterns have found skychief load very effective.
What specific load do u use ? I just got one and want to find out a good load. That sure is a beautiful gun. I agree hanshi, it needs no apology. I killed my last 7 Spring gobblers with a 20ga. smoothbore flintlock that I built, but it sure does not look that good.
Absolutely beautiful gun! What is ur intended load? I just bought a 20 gauge .Gettin a buddy ready for his first dive into flintlock Turkey hunting. Thought Curly Maple was a good starting point.
