Lots of flinters available but not aware of many caplocks except if you can find one of the discontinued Green Mountain barrels for the T.C.'s.

Twenty gauges are approximately . 615 cylinder bore, a 62 caliber trade gun is approximately .620

Lots of flintlocks, no caplocks that I am aware of. You can get all the parts to build a drop in barrel though. I have the parts to build one for a renegade now.

TC made a 56 caliber smoothbore at one time and those are available from time to time. Green mountain also made 1", 20 gauge drop in barrels but they are also discontinued, but sometimes available used. Chris

If you're real set on a single capper, I can report on using the 20 gauge (62 cal) smoothie on TC rifles. The barrel is quite heavy compared to a "shotgun". The rifle sights are problematic for me using it as a shotgun. I also don't particularly like it as a shotgun while mounted on a TC Hawken stock. Right now it's sitting on a single-trigger Renegade stock and the rear sight is removed. That's a whole lot closer to "shotgun," but the thing is still bloomin heavy and long, and hard to really get moving on fast targets.

Frankly, I think I'm moving on to the Perdersoli 20 gauge double. It's lighter, shorter, and it mounts and shoots like a shotgun should in my hands. The 20 gauge barrel is going back to being a roundball shooter.

I have a 32" octagon turned to round and a single trigger renegade stock, hoping it handles a lot more like a shotgun. Chris

I'm guessing that will make a huge and very useful difference in balance.

Out of curiosity, what is the diameter at the muzzle and have you weighed the complete gun? If I decide not to use mine as an RB gun, it could very well end up like yours.

Sorry I really can't help at all. I am currently in Korea and won't get home till Feb 2011. I ordered all the parts and plan on building it up when I get home, I ordered everything from TOW.

I have a Pedersoli 20 double that has been my go to gun for the last couple of years but wanted a single shot, mainly for roundballs and small game. If I am after birds I will more than likely be shooting the double. Chris

i have a 20ga/62. sharon octogon to round barrel and 45. octogon rifle barrel i picked up at garage sale for ten bucks. both are flintlock barrels , but to shoot percussion i just install nipple drums. both barrels seemed to be made for a t/c hawken stock. i have both percussion and flintlock locks , so i can shoot either way , depending the mood i'm in. the 20 is good for most small game, but i've killed deer with a round ball.
