Is this event held in conjunction with a state park, historical society, etc. or are you doing this on your own?

Couple of suggestions, have the park/society provide firewood.

Or if you don't care about being to PC with the wood, go to a lumber yard and ask for donations, add their name to the flyers you are putting out (supported in part by ABC Lumber Company). Obviously, don't get the pressure treated stuff!

Since it will be in July, you shouldn't need too much wood, too hot to cook a lot and a fire at night for abmiance.

You could get your group of people to have a work day to chop wood, if you can find a landowner with some dead trees on his property, or allow you to pick up the deadfall.

We host an event every year in Northern KY in conjunction with a state park. We don't get paid but they must provide wood, water, hooters, ice and straw bales.
