I don't know if any of you knew JR Salvo but he made some amazing guns, bows, river cane arrows, etc. I have in my possession one of his pistols.
The bore measures .350". He made every piece of the pistol including the screws. What an old time craftsman he was. It is truly an amazing piece.

I also have a flint lock he was making (totally home manufactured) but not finished which would fit this pistol. The only thing left to do on the lock is drill & tap for the top jaw screw & fit a top jaw. The full cock notch needs refining also. I told his widow I would convert it if she wanted me to but I'm not sure it is the right thing to do. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

That is a fine looking pistol.
I really would not change the lock, as that would change the whole period of the gun.
Perhaps, you could finish the flint lock, and make up a rifle for it???

Finish the Lock, and treat it as single display piece, for mantlepiece, china cupboard, etc. It will be of importance to the family.
