ss1, I don't know about buying bullets but you can still get a mould for making a .40 caliber conicals from Rapine. That's mould #400185. Le Grand

Pretty sure Midway http://www.midwayusa.com/ebro...323&categorystring=9315***652***675***9016*** & Buffalo Arms http://www.buffaloarms.com sell pre-cast & swaged bullets for .40 caliber BPCR. One of those might work for you.
I guess the groove to groove diameter would need to be measured to determine the size...probably one in the .406-.408 range would do...but they're pretty big and heavy...wonder what kind of accuracy there would be in a 1" x 48" twist?

Someone posted a few months ago that they used something like a .386 conical and a lubed patch...smaller and not as heavy...said they got good accuracy with it...and no leading of course.

I think if I ever wanted to experiment with a conical in a 1" x 48" .40cal, I'd be inclined to first try the smaller/lighter conical and a patch.

those BPCR bullets are intended for 1/18, preferable 1/16 twist barrels to stabilize.
I think accuracy in a 1/48 would be horiffic.
