I've shot a bunch, but never at game- in 54 and 58 cals as well as 50. They've taught me several things. You want a twist rate of 1:48 or faster. You need to cast from pure lead. You need to cast really clean, fully filled bullets. You want a decent lube (I use 2 dips in LEE Liquid Alox). And, in all the guns I've tried, best accuracy is found with a lubed felt wad between the base of the bullet and the powder.

I'm a round ball hunter, but I love to dink around with stuff. They've been great dinking fun for me, especially for long range shooting. I have no doubt they'd be fine on game, but I just haven't gone there. Yet, anyway!

I gave mine away. My guns just didn't like them. I've read reports from others that have had great results. Unfortunately, I think it's hit and miss on whether your gun likes it or not.

Just a suggestion. Find someone who has some to spare and see if your gun likes it before buying a mould.

I have used 250 grain reals in my Renegade. Shot good and killed deer very well.

The 250 grain the most accurate conical out of my 50 cal GPH barrel and accuracy improves from adding a lubed wad. Easy to lube using beeswax and olive oil and afterwards leave very little fouling. Have not used them on game but they would be the one's I would choose.

I havent had good luck with REAL's, I've tried them in 54 and 58 caliber, and accuracy was sub-par.. but I have never tried a felt wad, which I plan on soon. Mine are a BEAR to start, I actually used a small hammer to get them seated past the top ring, then a fiberglass rod to seat them. I used crisco for lube but they fouled quickly, making it even harder to seat them.

That being said I have some felt wads and plan on trying some tomorow with my new 58...(fingers crossed).

They should hit like a train and have a lot better BC than prb's, so lets hope for good groups.

I start all my REALs with my thumb and then use my ramrod to push them down. I do use pure lead so if its anything harder, it will give you a work out.

My rifles shot sub 3" groups at 100 yards. The only thing I don't like is the meplat. I like a wide meplat for maximum whomp. Ron
