I have a Renegade .56 Cal. smoothbore ML. I was given a box of .530 roundballs. Could I double patch with .010 patches to make up the difference or would this adversley effect accuracy. Thanks! :)

You may find that a .530 rd ball isn't that small in a .56 smoothbore. You generally need a ball .020-.030 under bore size in a smoothbore since there is no rifling for the patch to compress in to. Give them a try and see how they work.

I had good results with .530 and .535 balls in my .58 trade gun with thick patches.

It's well worth a try. I had good luck in my .56 Renegade using .530 balls but I double patched using an .010 with a .015. That combination over 80 grs. of 2f Goex gave me groups of a little under three inches at forty yards.

You guys really have me considering trying some .570's with a denim patch in my 20ga Fusil when I get it. Would be a might easier on the shoulder and plenty of poop for deer.

Already picked up some .595's to try, and have a .600 mould from years ago when I stupidly sold the Tulle I had then. :curse:

Thanks,

Java Man

You could have one patch slip out of another if the patches are pre-cut, if you cut at the barrel, fold it over first and cut as you would a single patch...
