Thinkin out loud. Shooting a lefthand .54 flint Southern Mtn.rifle. Want a pistol to tote also and if both used same ball it seems way to go. Which brings me to this point. What do you think of this product? What other options are out there? Seems like a win-win to me so far  GrampaJ in NC

Those are pretty nice guns but a word of caution may be in order.

The Pedersoli Kentucky pisols use the nose cap to retain the barrel in the stock.

To do this, a small tang of the stocks wood is left. This occupies the area between the inside of the nose cap and the bottom of the barrel.
There is a hole thru this wood for a screw to pass up thru the metal nosecap and to allow the fastener to screw into the bottom of the barrel.

While all of this is OK for light loads several of our members have managed to shear off the wood tang by using heavy powder loads in their Kentucky.

If you decide to get this gun you may want to consider soldering a small barrel underlug about 1 1/4 inches behind the muzzle and cutting a groove in the stock to clear it.
Then, you can cross-drill thru the stock and underlug and install a barrel pin like the gun should have had in the first place.

Thanks Zonie, for the heads-up. I've been looking at Sitting Fox' pistol kits for nearly the same $. MBS has some components for more $. Any other flint .54 pistol kits out there? Watcha experience? Lets hear it. GrampaJ in NC
