T/C lists for the.56 a maximum charge of 100 grains 2.f 265 grain roundball. This will give you 1300 F.P.S and 995 ft.lbs of energy at the muzzle. Is this enough for deer at 50 yards?

Absolutey, and with margin to spare.

And if OxYoke's claims are true...(no reason to suspect they're not)...if you use an Oxyoke wonderwad over the powder you should get an additional boost in velocity with the same powder charge...(improved gas seal)...I used .58cal wonderwads in my .56cal

I have killed a number of deer with .50 cal roundball pushed with 70gr of FFg and never had one run off on me yet. I would think that it would work just fine.

I've taken deer with 50 cal roundballs with 100 grains of 2f Goex many times, one shot no problems at all. Recently I've discovered my accuracy is more consistant with less, like 80 grains and am considering it as a hunting load as well. I think a round ball is wonderful for taking a deer, does lots of damage and the deer goes down quick

your projectile is starting out at a diameter that others hope to expand up to. i have the same rifle and its got plenty of womp and stomp.
