Does anyone make a .44 cal version of this "belt pistol?" I thought Pietta did, but they do not show one.

At best it looks as though it would need to be taken to a smith to be shortened and have a "belt pistol" lever attached.

What should I expect to be charged for:

1) Shortening and recrowning the barrel, and reattaching the loading lever catch and sight?
2) Loading lever from "belt pistol" (SS)?
3) Opening the chambers to .452-453"?

Please clarify what you mean by ”˜belt pistol’? A New Model Army pistol with an 8 inch barrel was a belt pistol at the time it was made.

Noper, I have a Uberti Remington with a 5.5" barrel and it's a .44. Take a look at the Cimarron web site. I bought a Cimarron tuned Uberti .44 cal with a 5 1/2" barrel. If it isn't then this thing I got sitting in my lap right now must be a poodle dog. I also Have a conversion cylinder for it- It shoots .45 long colt if it isn't a .44 I spent about 500 bucks on ammo thats not right. I carry this pistol around alot in a western style holster that I made- it was a kit I got from Tandy.
And if your putting 44 grains in your pistol, please stand down range from me. My max load in my .44 cal remington is 28grains of fffg black, and 22 grains of triple 7.

The "max" load is whatever you can cram into the chamber and still be able to load the ball below the face of the cylinder.

I don't know if you could load 40 grains of powder or not. I know loads of 30-35 grains has been used before.

Usually the best loads are in the 28-32 grains of 3Fg black powder if you like accuracy.

"And if your putting 44 grains in your pistol, please stand down range from me."

I certainly wouldn't put more than it could handle. I thought I had seen somewhere how 40 grns was the max it could hold. Hogdgon's shows 35 grns of Pyro P, but that doesn't mean it's a max...

I wouldn't put more than 35 grains of 3f in it.
Yes it can handle as much as it can take with leaving room to seat a ball, but that is a waste of powder aqnd beats up on the gun and the shooter needlessly.
25-30 grains is more than enough to be leathal.

35 grains is what the cylinder will hold and still be able to compress the ball in (at least with 3f Goex). That is a real good boom, you can feel the power. I shoot 18 grains for target work.
