Sometime during this past week, I found a store that was selling a 1" octagon X 42 (44?) inch long X .58 cal with a 1 in 56in twist, round-bottom rifling barrel. Unfortunately though, I cannot find my reference notes on who the manufacturer was.

If you know who it is please respond. Thanks!

I found a listing for just such a barrel in my search engine: "19500C- .58 cal 1.58 caliber 1" straight octagon barrel 42" long. Made by Colerain Barrel Co with premium round bottom rifling. Twist is 1-56."

It's sold through the Muzzleloader Builder's Supply website, but I can't access their site atm for some reason. Even had it saved to my BP faves list and couldn't access it via that either. :idunno: I'm sure you could find one elsewhere, though.

Sounds like a Colerain to me. Every Colerain I ever used had that same twist. If the price is close to $150, then it's Colerain. If it's more like $200 or more, then it's probably a Rice.

Those Colerains are good barrels by the way, real shooters. But the outside finish is a real pain in the you know what to clean up. Flats are wavy. You gotta lay the file parallel to the barrel and kinda hand mill it flat. So if you're cutting your own barrel channel, it's best to clean up the outside of the barrel before you cut and fit it to the channel, lest it be wobbly after filing. Bill
