Broke my glasses the other day. Still I decided to go to the range this morning and shoot my T.C 58 Cal. Renegade.
Wasn't real happy with results from 100 Gr. 2F load. Reduced it down to 90 Gr. of 2F BP,.015 spit patch on a .570 RB.
Distance was 50 yds and using a 6 o'clock hold on sight picture. 1st shot was to the right. (my fault) 2nd shot hit 6in. circle. 3rd and 4th shot were touching approx. 1 inch to the left of shot #2.
I think that this will do as my deer hunting load for this year.

I can tell you at my age, shooting at a fuzzy target ( remember broken glasses) is something that I don't recommend. Will have my new glasses by next week/

Once you have your glasses back please let us know your progress with a picture or two.

Nice shooting.

I'm happy with the grouping that I got today.
Not a target shooter. Just a meat hunter.

With it hitting that high at 50 on a 6 o'clock hold with 100 grains, I'm betting your POI is going to be pretty close to right on the top of the front sight at 100 yards if your new glasses will allow it. Dandy as dandy can get in my book.

My Investarms 58 is a 1 in 48 as yours is. It shoots best with 110 grains of 2F. We are the same age and with out my glasses I would be in real trouble. I use .018 patches and it groups small!

Iwould love to be able to hit a 6 inch bullseye at 100 yds.
Now a deer in Eastern Okla. will be more like 50 yds or less to you when you decide to shoot. Just don't get those long range shots unless you go way out into Western Okla.
Not to mention those T.C. front sights have a habit of covering the target out much past 50 yds.

Since I've been hunting with a longbow for over 20 years it always amazes me when people cant get closer than 100 yards. I'll be hunting elk with my 54 cal GPR this fall since the bow season is during the fall salmon run. I'll still try and get inside 20yards so as not to take the "hunt" out of hunting.

Vearl, if they'll stay inside there you're good to go for sure.
And just food for thought...if you decide to go to the range again before hunting season, you might try just bumping up the patch thickness to an OxYoke .020" and see what happens...a good snug fit usually gave me the tightest possible groups in T/C's shallow groove 1:48" barrels. (you'll need a short starter)

Same here. Both my Big Boars shoot best with .575 balls and .018 patches, but they seat harder (short starter and a really hard whack-probably should us a mallet) than I want to fiddle with on hunts. Groups with .570/.018 are on the order of 2-3" at 50 yards (just a firm push on the short starter), plenty good enough for my needs, so that's what I go with for hunts. Groups are 1.5"-2" with the .575/.018, and there's not a critter alive that needs the little extra accuracy inside 100 yards.
