Just took delivery of my Green Mtn. .58, 1-70" twist barrel today. I've been working for the last week on refinishing the wood and metal on a Renegade stock and lock I bought off EBay. I like how the wood and metal turned out. Anxious to shoot the gun now. I also bought a used .570 RB mold (Lyman) and have ball cast, ready to go! I will now start the patch/ball combination search that we all go through with a new gun or barrel. Can't wait to shoot it!

FWIW, I got that same barrel in Flint last year and dropped it in a TC Hawken stock...it is simply a tack driver barrel...very deep grooves, etc.

I tried three different charges...80, 90, and 100grns of Goex FFg...and all three were as accurate as one another...used Oxyoke wonderwads, TC's .018" prelubed pillow ticking patches, and Hornady .570's with all three charges.

May be the most accurate barrel (or caliber) that I have...just seemed like I could point it towards the target and it ended up in the bullseye...GM makes great barrels.

I got a .58 cal. renegade today. I can't wait to shoot it. Mine's a flintlock. Of couse living in PA, I don't have any reason to buy anything else.

Let me know how that mold works out for you.

I got my used 570 mold from The gun Works. They have a lot of used molds. I payed 35.00 + S&H. Came to 44.75. The mold throws great balls. Just got to get out and shoot. Been stormin' and Rainy. Maybe tomorrow? Thanks for the info, guys!
