Hi, all. I am looking for a budget friendly .58 that will shoot a PRB at distance. I don't really care what it looks like (I just refinished a CVA I purchased on here earlier in the month and feel competent to do another). I would like a shiny bore and a functional lock. What do you have for sale?

Zoli 58 cal on gunbroker.com

Navy arms 58 there also
I saw that. I actually had a bid on it, and if it stays low, I might throw another one at it. They are asking $70 shipping, so I have to consider that. I would prefer to get something from the group. Do you think a Zoli will shoot PRB at 100-150 yards?

Let me clarify. I really just need a beater that would be presentable with a little work. It should have a good barrel. I am fine with nicks and scuffs, even some rust and worn finish on the outside. I can fix that! I have a budget of around $400, but the cheaper the better.

One on here tonight if it what hour needing $375. If I remember right

Another update: I might have a couple hundred more to spend. Anything in the $500-$700 range with a really good, and possibly longer barrel? I am still fine with it being rough around the edges, as I like to fiddle around with things.

I am inclined to get a Hawken or plains style over a minie shooting military type.

That would be much appreciated!
The TC renegade is a 54 cal. Clean gun, but the barrel bluing is worn. Comes with a bunch of loading stuff for $400. If your interested contact Kyle @ Straight Shooter Armory. ssafirearms@gmail.com is the email. He can send pics! He has sold to several members here. Legit small town store. Good guy!

@ParsonBart, You might consider getting a Hawken or Renegade with 1" bbl and then have it re-bored to become a 58. Send the barrel off to someone like Bobby Hoyt and have him recommend the best type of rifling for your purposes!

Thank you for that response. I actually have that on the table, as well. A guy messaged me yesterday with some possibilities.

You indicated that you were shooting at 100 -150 yard distances with a PRB. I think if that's the case, you would want a longer barrel then the 26" barrel that comes with a Renegade to get good accuracy at those distances. The T/C Hawken barrel in .54 comes to about 29", and while that better than 26" it might make sense to find or hold out for one a bit longer. GM has a 36" .58 caliber barrel blanks in the $210 ball park. You could probably source the parts necessary and finish it to be a drop-in for a TC Renegade with your budget.
