My 20 year old son and I went to the range today with his brand new charcoal-blue fluted-cylinder Uberti 1860 Army .44 that I gave him for Christmas. Man can that thing shoot! He wound up with an 84x100 the first time he fired it. :shocked2: And that's on the infamous B-19 Target! The smiles were worth every penny that I spent.
He had never fired that model prior to today, and had had some trouble in the past with his 1858 New Model Army needing to be aimed low and away . So being that I had shot 2 examples of that model already and did quite well with them, I'd figured that his shooting (and therefore fun with the "Old Man") would improve!
I can't wait to "borrow" it while he's away at college :haha:
We used our standard load of 25 grains of Goex 3Fg, a pre-lubed wonderwad, and a .454 Hornady ball. Stock nipples did well with Remington #10 caps.
It's so nice to be with him and watch him have fun with black powder
