I just picked up this french flintlock, which was sold as and mostly matches the description of a Light Infantry model 1816 Charleville. The only issue is that it has a .71 caliber barrel, which I understand wasn't standard on french guns until the 1840's, and it has a front sight directly on the barrel rather than on the front barrel band. It has several Belgian proof marks, one of which is 18.00, I'm guessing to denote the barrel having an 18mm bore. If it had been an arsenal refit (reboring the original 17.5mm barrel to 18mm and adding a sight), wouldn't they have also converted it to percussion?
