What experiance does anyone have with using 3f 777 in Cap & ball revolvers? I used 25 grs.(the recommended load) in my Uberti 1860 Army .44 and it didn't seem to fill the chambers nearly enough even with wonder wads. The ball was set too deep for maximum accuracy and I really don't want to get into the corn meal thing. The charge was, of course, measured by volume in an accurate measure. I don't recall this situation occuring with 3f black powder. I realize that 25 grs. would be a somewhat light load with black powder but I hesitate to stray away from the the published data. I'm just curious what other shooters have encountered...

I would stick with the 25 grain recommendation as 777 is hotter than other substitutes. I use it in my steel frame guns and add corn meal to fill the gap.
