Are the patch lubes that are good for blackpowder also good for 777 or is there a better formula for 777 patch lubes? Thanks

Not sure. However, I can tell you that the folks who do cowboy action shooting love to use 777. All they have to do is spray down their firearms with a some Windex to clean everything up bright and shiny.

I actually used some 777 in my flintlock once and the fouling ran off when you poured water on it. And I do mean ran off as in left no residue at all. My guess would be that spit patches would work as well as anything.

Bore Butter or Wonderlube is fine for either powder. Makes a good pre-lubed patch with a minimum 010 plain smooth or woven patch. If you are using alot of powder like around 100 gr, change to .015... if your rifle shoots it OK.

Give GO-JO a try, it's cheap effective and if you don't like it you can laways use it to clean up with. Works for me.
