Great book! I used to use some of the info in my Amer. History classes!
Dr. Hanson's book is a must-read for Hawken enthusiasts. Perhaps his greatest contribution to the history of this period is his founding of the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron, Nebraska. If you are ever within 1,000 miles, make it a point to visit! You'll remember it all your life.

This book was needed. John Baird was such a Hawken enthusiast that he didn’t have the perspective of how relatively scarce they were compared to huge orders from other suppliers to the west.
