After nearly six decades of shooting, hunting and messing about only with metallic-loading arms, I almost accidentally acquired a T/C sidelock (Grey Hawk) a couple of years ago.
Amazed at the accuracy, and enjoying the leisurely pace of shooting, I've kept my interest. I'm far from a dedicated purist buckskinner (the Grey Hawk is all stainless and plastic, as you may know) but I do enjoy the simple pleasure of using the old-fashioned percussion sidelock with loose powder and patched ball. I've not hunted with the bp gun, but that may happen yet. I'm NOT interested in the new-fangled in-line 'devices', and think that scopes on muzzle-loaders are an abomination!! I've been retired and on short rations for new guns now for quite a while, and am glad I blundered into the muzzle-loader at a time when it was possible for me to acquire it. I won't be letting it go.
