I had a nice surprise happen today and wanted to share it with you muzzleloader types...

Back in November'2003, I had the very rare good fortune of sitting outside an exit trail from a year old clear-cut area, and shooting 4 nice bucks with Flintlocks during our rut here...and on one of those days shot two of them just 30 minutes apart right after first light...an 8 pointer, then a 7 pointer.

Later I sent a photo of that pair to TC's service manager with a thank you note for all his support upgrading old flint lock assemblies for me at no charge during the previous year while I'd been learning and practicing...got a brief TC form letter back thanking me for using their products, sending the photo, glad I had a good hunt with the Flintlock, etc.

Today (a year later) there was a copy of TC

Great story, Roundball...and good shootin' too! :applause: :applause: The way my luck is, they would have sent me a bill for useing my photo! ::

rb,
always nice to hear a story of that type
when it seems as though everything is so
negative.

Good story--and you deserve it--you have been a good [free] advertisement for TC products on several ML sites with your many reports of successes with TC guns and on their quality, performance and service--they ought to give you a salary!! :imo:  You will love the knife--it is a great all around outdoor design.

Enjoy that custom knife, Roundball! You've really been a good unofficial rep for T.C. and that was a wonderful gesture on there part. You know, you've had such success with T.C. I am inspired to get my old tiger-striped Hawken out dad gave me for Christmas '78. Its dead on with maxi-balls. What kind of roundball hunting load do you think a .50 hawken would be good with (.490 ball, .018 pillow ticking a good choice)?

Hey Bob,

Mine shot equally as well with 65, 70, or 75 grains of FFg black powder. It would drive tacks.

Now I use FFFg 65 grains of Swiss in my .50 cal longrifle 1 in 66" twist it's also a tackdriver and the 3f burns a little cleaner.

What a great story. T/C may have just sold another rifle.
Actually, I have never considered owning a T/C before, but that just changed. Heading over to the T/C website right now to have a look around...

Thanks for sharing.

Yes...since they improved their locks & vent liner, they just never fail

My .50cal hunting load is:

90grns FFFg (3F)
Oxyoke wonderwad
.018" TC prelubed pillow ticking
Hornady .490 ball

(for targets I just use 50grns FFFg and no wonderwad)

roundball congrats on gift....ya have to put picture up to let see the knife....i bet that picture in the catalog makes ya proud....makes me kinda glad i picked a T/C hawken as my first ml...................bob
