One more thing I will show you this week and the main reason is to let all of you see what you can do yourself. What I mean is just try it. It may not come out exactly the way you saw it in your head the first time or even the fifth time but each one will get better. The only reason that most of us can't do things is because we are afraid to try. Their is a serious amount of knowledge available to all of you on this forum and I have never seen or heard of someone saying that won't tell you how to do something.
Just give it a shot and you might be able to say "I did that". here is a little accoutrement set I made to go with that spiral horn that I posted the other day. Made from antler and using pig bristles for the brush, the pick is hand forged and the measure holds 80 grains which goes down really well in my .54 smoothbore.

Very cool. I shot a hog a few weeks ago and thought to myself "what can i do with this hair?". Now I know!

Hawkthrower, those look really handsome! Do I assume correctly that they're made of antler? How do you connect / attach the boar bristle to the brush? and can you tell me how to get boar bristle?

Thanks!

Thanks all for the comments . MSW the bristles were given to me by a friend quite a few years ago. I have enough left for maybe 4 more brushes and then I will be looking myself. I will confess to using epoxy to secure them to the antler. If you don't have a lathe these can be made with an electric drill secured in a vise and a couple of files.

Hey Mike, just got sidetracked for awhile. I am back at it again now. Hope you are doing well.

Jr, it was turned on a lathe. I had to use a file to round an area that I could hold in the lathe. I then used a live center in the other end to steady the piece while I turned it. You could do the same thing with a drill and chuck the piece up and use files with a light pressure to do the same thing. Don't bear down to hard when you are shaping it because you don't have anything on the open end to help hold it like you would in a lathe.

Thank you all for the comments and questions. This is what I do for therapy cause I can't weave baskets :shocked2: :rotf:
