I have a CVA cap lock Kentucky pistol I want to swap over to flint.
Other than CVA locks who makes a direct swap over lock?
Any advice?

L&R lock company makes a kine of replacement locks. They may require minor inleting.

Assuming the drum is fit just to the barrel and not to the breach plug as well ...

Once you get the new lock fit you will need a vent liner that either fits the existing hole (left when removing the drum) it should also match the threads or you will need to get a liner that is larger and drill and tap the hole as appropriate. Ideally the vent hole would be located at the top of the pan cenetered front to back. As long as the hole is somewhere within the pan it should work fin though. You just do not want the vent hole at the bottom of the pan or ignition will be painfully slow.

If your drum incorporates the breach plug some where else I am sure can give more information.

Naturally converting from percussion to flint will void any manufacturer warantee.

I would suggest that you call Dixie Gunworks (731)885-0700 and ask them if the regular CVA Rifle lock will fit on your CVA Kentucky Pistol.

I suspect the Pistols lockplate and inner parts are smaller.
Unless the locks are the same, the new replacement lock will not work. :(

You'd probably be money and time ahead to sell the cap gun and buy a flinter. Converting flint to percussion is cheap since you can convert the original lock but percussion to flint, buying a new lock takes the economy out of the deal.

IM thinking of a cheap lock like a cva or traditions or? and then drilling and tapping for a touch hole liner comapred to around $300+ for a kit gun I would want insted of this one.
Just trying to see which interchange.

Thanks for the replies all.

Again, I don't know if the RPL lock made by L&R will work or not, but I will say that converting from a Percussion gun to Flintlock is an easy rework, if you have a lock that will fit .

The location of the touch hole to the locks pan is much less critical than the location of a nipple to the locks hammer is. :hmm:
Zonie:)

Well, you can get away with a cheap percussion lock but a flint is either good or worthless.
