Our A and B Musket teams. And no, the target isn't a musket target. The gentleman holding it is our gun commander on the artillery piece and he's justly proud of that target. Artillery course of fire was 12 shots, and there's 9 on that bullseye. The other part of the match was breaking a board in half which we did with 3 shots.

Hey- I know some of those guys!

There was a great showing by the Palmetto Sharpshooters with 18 present on Saturday and 10 on the line for Sunday. After the artillery match, we dig out the shot for recasting but this time, there were 6 in one hole and the we couldn't dig deep enough to get to the first two. They had been driven about 6ft into the berm.

We had BBQ chicken and live bluegrass that evening. Interesting thing, the band came over to watch us at the cannon match. They shunned ear protection saying- "we're used to loud music". Well, after they experienced the first shot, all of them were looking for ear pro. Well, they were warned.... sometimes it pays to listen.

Our "powder monkey" on the right and the "greaser" on the left. Guy on the right brings the powder to the gun for loading. Guy on the left is lubing the cannon ball. It's actually not a "ball" per se but a ginormous minie complete with hollow base and lube rings. The guy greasing the ball is using paint brush and tub of lard. Must work ok, just look at the target.

And the road into the range. It was a great weekend competing with Civil War arms and burning the holy black.
