I appreciate the advice I got re: bedding my half-stock Investarms "Hawken" and I got the problem licked. I hogged out the shim I had epoxied in and then took down the high spots until the barrel wedge fit loosely. After that I peened the lug a bit. Now the wedge goes in with thumb pressure until it hits the other escutcheon, whereupon it has to be tapped in the rest of the way with a mallet. . . just the way I like it. I think now I'll inlet just a little more with sandpaper as opposed to scrapers and peen just a little more if necessary. The barrel now snugs down tight with no up & down or rt / lft movement. The barrel still rides 1/64" higher in front than in back, but the fine inletting will likely take care of that.
