For any of you that are going to the Florida Alafia rendezvous this next week......I will be there on the left hand side about two or blocks down the road?

Look for the grey hair old lady with a bum leg trying to put up camp and having a hell of a good time. :blah: :blah:  Come by and say hello. Will be in a wall tent with Italian table cloth pattern sides :: ::

Anyway...will have parts of my book there....working on it if you want to see some of the work and give comments. You can tell me....with the computer typing away....have a big battery. But no web access to harass this group. So :bull: I will be out of the office for a week and a half. Back on the 23th. :results:

I promiss to have pictures and a story. :shocking: Will send good photos to the new "magazine" and the others to this site.
Maybe I will write a daily letter of what is going on and post it when I get back.

Got to figure out how to put my computer in a braintan beaded bag...so that it is not so out in the open. :: Just wish I had a better battery system and a way to the net. :nono:

This is my first rendezvous in 4 years. Packed my trailer last year to go....and two days before.... :cry:tripped on a two x four and landed on both knees. Could not walk for a week or two. So...I am still packed....just never unpacked. Now I am ready to go. :shocking: :RO:

Who else is going???? :: :hmm:

Who else is going???? :: :hmm:

I wish I was!!

........ but, I'll happily settle fer the "pitchers" you post when you git back!! :applause: :applause: ::

(I wanna see thet "tablecloth" wall tent'a yor'n :haha:)

Have a good time.

I assume you are using a lap-top. Although I do not have one myself, I would guess that they are equipped with a 12VDC input for aux power. If a car battery is too heavy to tote around, you may want to consider a motorcycle battery. When I did video production work we used these instead of the camera ni-cads because they lasted so much longer and were a heck of a lot cheaper. Just chop of the end of the "car" cable, very carefully verify the polarity of the the two leads and attach to the motorcycle battery with bolt and nut.

And then don't trip over the wire!

Smoked Frank,

I would not chop that wire. I would instead go down to the auto parts store and get a socket to plug it into. They are not too expensive and you keep the cable for later use in the car. If they don't stock the one that is made just for that, a regular cigarette lighter socket, a plastic box and some wire works well too. Just doesn't look as nice.

Good thought on the motorcycle battery!

If you need a hand with it, let me know. I will be glad to help since I am in town!

Hey...I am going to need help setting up camp...other than the battery problems. Definetly checking into the "litte" battery. I will be in camp...I hope...Wed. morning late...like after 11 or so. Hope before 1. At least I do not have to set up in a dress. Hate setting up in a dress...you guys should try it....and I do not mean a kilt.

Uhhh... Me in a DRESS?? Sorry, but "homey don't play that." I am too straight for that - even if I do have a weird last name.

I meant while you were here in Jacksonville. I am going to try to come down, but nothing is carved in stone yet. I will try to drop by and say hi!

Pork Chop,

Yep that'll work too. And of course, you don't mess up your cord that came with the computer. Just be sure to tightly tape the cigarette lighter plug and socket together. They have a habit of pulling apart just when you don't want that to happen. I actually replaced all of these type connectors with polarized, rubber coated connectors and of course we never used the car lighter socket to power anything.

Tipis,

When the battery does need a charge - use a small trickle charger. A big charger may shorten the battery's life. Motorcyle batteries would power industrial cam-corders for 30 hours without a hitch. I rigged up the batteries in small carrying cases with shoulder straps for ease of moving around.

Great advice....I can do all that, and except for the battery, have all that equipment. Thanks again. Thats' what I love about this group....we help each other. :applause: :applause:

Good deal. And the batteries should only cost about $20 each. May be nice to have second one just in case you spend too much time on the computer instead of sitting around the fire and having a taste with friends.

Got a battery....it works great....small car battery that weighs about 20lb...but plenty of juice. My machanic is letting me try it out. So far it is working great. Plenty of time left to type. Right on. :shocking: :imo:

Wellllll, will be gone for a week and a half. Have a good time on the site without me.  :blah:

Welcome from the "Sunny"???? south. Just got back from the Alifia and it was great. Spent toooooo much money and spent toooo much time having a good time. :imo: :imo:

MET one of our site members there....but unfortunatly did not get around as I had hoped. The new knee did give me a problem   but my therapist has lost his bet....and I have to get cleaned up...  no bath for a week and a half..... :shake: :shocking: :nono: And then want to get a good fried chicken diner. So more later....much later.....

I am alive.....I am alive.....life is good :results: :what:

Tipis,

Glad to hear that you had fun! I am sorry to say that I did not make it down. Too many things going on and last minute issues. At least I finally got the last of the tree issues from the hurricanes taken care of.

Godspeed on your recovery! :redthumb:
