After the move to Worcester Allen produced a number of standard/medium sized belt six shot pepperboxes with fluted, rather than ribbed, barrel clusters. Flayderman classed them all as 5A-048.
The first, second and third models were under the Allen & Thurber label.
The first had a Norwich quick drop grip, and the second the "Worcester arch", 1837 patent barrel with a '45 patent action and the third was under the full '45 patent. On this third model he shortened the tail of the hammer link and employed a smaller action cover than on the earlier ribbed Worcesters - did he on the second model as well?
Looking foward - did that configuration remain unchanged through Allen Thurber & Co. and Allen & Wheelock? Did the cover casting remain 2.260" long by 1.265" high (57.40 mm & 32.13mm) ?
My second question is:
does anyone have Flayderman's 5A-039 pocket Worcester 6 shot, fluted barrel with seperately affixed nipple shield?

I have both an original 1837 and an original 1845 Allen & Thurber .31 caliber Pepperbox, and I fire them both occasionally with light loads of 15 grains FFFg and lubed WonderWad and #11 percussion caps. A buddy with a lathe helped me turn some aluminum barstock into a plunger/rammer...
