Has anyone tried this on smaller caliber rifles?
Is it the same as 2f or 3f black powder?

Where I am we can't get real black powder locally and was thinking of getting some of this so I can shoot my black powder firearms
thanks for the replys

Been using Black MZ powder since it came out, almost exclusively. It has worked very well for me. Black MZ likes a tight fitting ball seated very hard on the powder; you may not get there with a wooden ramrod.

Soon someone who may or may not have tried the stuff will come along and say Black MZ is absolutely no good.

Doesn't work in flintlocks...
Is not the "same" as real blackpowder...

It is the least corrosive of all substitute powders...
Also may be harder to ignite than BP or some other subs...
That said, I like it and it has its uses.....

But so expensive.
At least 2 X $ over black.
That is here. I don't know about your area.
O.

I use it in my 32 and 36 "caplock" rifles and caplock pistols. Very clean and accurate. Was 9.99 at Sportsmans, but shelves are empty now.

I bought a 32 Cherokee with ruff bore, and the BP fowled to much and made it difficult to load. But, no problem with Black MZ.

Isn't it strange how a powder can be priced from $9.99 to over $32 and is the same stuff.
I was asking as here our Sportsman had it in stock until just before deer and elk season opened.
Now it is gone for a while I hope.
thanks for the reply's as now I know I can use in it all my black powder firearms which is what I was wondering as there is no F rating that I have found on MZ.

Well I bought a can last year after I shot several tree rats in the noggin using goex 3f in my .32 crockett. This year (no site charges) i took the MZ and crockett out and shot at 5 tree rats and went away empty. Shot a target at 20 yds and was 4 " low left?

I will play some more but wished I took the goex.

That said I also took my cabelas .54 out bout 3 weeks ago. Shot well, 3 1/4 inch 5 shot group at 75 yds. Sunday I took same gun, patches, lube etc etc and shot 3 shots in the same hole. However they were off the plate at 8"00? Could NOT get sited in (35 mph wind too though?)

I think I'm going blind or will soon be switching to ALL PRIMITIVE sites. These adjustable s MUST be the problem? oh yea, crocket is primitive (but changed powder? :idunno: )

You might try powder inc. i just bought some from them. Delivered to my house. Very reasonable price. They are online. Hope this helps

If you don't pack it tight (which is the manufacturers recommendation) you will not get consistent velocity.

I have won matches at my local club, using Black MZ. We just shoot for fun, but I would not use it, if I didn't have confidence in it.
