Well fellas, I have spent about 25 hours working on that Tulle, that I bought. It was built, but the builder had the sight on crooked, the sides of the forend were uneven and there were some pretty deep gouges here and there.
Necessity being the mother of invention etc. I went ahead and blued everything except the butplate which I high polished. Mainly cause I already had a bottle of blueing and was broke after buying the tulle, sandpaper, stain and tung oil....haha
I sanded the barrel flats free of the machining marks, went over the stock with 150 then 320 then 400 grit, tack clothed it and put on three coats of dark walnut stain. Now have two coats of oil on.
Blueing was three coats of super blue, and it came out nice and dark and even.
Problem areas are mostly the stock has a few light areas, but no matter how much stain they are just lighter than the rest. It also has areas around the lock and side plate tht are darker, Also a small light area, of blueing on the lock, but for a gun that will be spending its life in the woods, I dont think it will take long before I would have been crying over a show piece but this one it will just add character to.
I think it will do fine for a first "semi build" and I learned a ton. I think somewhere down the road I will finally try a full kit build of an english gun....maybe..
