So why not shoot one of the bucks? Is it a doe only hunt? If so, then yes, that is the way my luck would go too. Good luck the rest of the season.

I had the same thing happen about three years ago during our early doe season. Up in the tree where I usually had numerous doe walk past a night, in walks a nice little 5 pointer. Of course he was a no no... but the smiles on the face were hard to hide. :) I am sure anything you take will be the wrong one, so just plan on going out and having fun sitting in the woods.. the rest will come naturally.

Good luck to you. Last night on the bow stand I had a doe come in and was not sure where or what I was but circled out there in front of me (to far to shoot) until it was dark... oh well.

Yep. Murphy was a hunter. If you'd a brung the bow those bucks would have stopped to have a cigarette at 50 yards.

You can't shoot bucks with a m/l in PA? Durn right unAmurikan! Is that one of those special ways on certain days things. I've heard horror stories about the old "doe day" when anything moving anywhere in PA from school bus size down was in eminent danger.

I like our system of 6 tags = 4 bucks & 2 does...when deer season opens, go deer hunting

Wow, sounds like a turkey shoot!

Reminds me of a couple of summers back in the 90's when a local farmer got some "Depredation Permits" from the wildlife dept and named me as an alternate on the permits.

20 does / summer, two summers in a row...it was like a shooting clinic with a Remington 700/.30-06 + 165grn BTSP...45 minutes before dark I'd park in trees at the edge of a soybean field, stand in the back of the truck and use the roof as a bench...200-250yd shots...got first hand experience of a lifetime on what that 165grn load can do

i have my 3 doe tags from the game comm and my buck tag from my lic....and 7 of the DMAP tags for the state forests in the pike county area....so i have a bunch of spots to go all within an hour of me....so i'll be all around the place this year as to last year with only 6 tags two of them being DMAP tags...................................bob

It must be the number 10. First tickets, now tags. We trust you will make meat by the end of the week. Have fun. I hope to be in Lycoming Co. Saturday.

As Bob 1961 and Zman know, the weather here in Pa. since last Saturday has been high winds and/or rain and drizzle. Inlines are legal during this antlerless season, but as an old, dyed-in-the-wool flintlock shooter, I tucked that flintlock under my arm pit for four days and finally got a shot on Wednesday.
The wife and I enjoyed fried back straps with peppers and onions for dinner this evening from a mature Tioga Co. doe. The doe paused too long within range after I jumped her in some thick beech brush. :m2c: The Unified Sportsmen of Pa. suggested that we not use our doe tags this year in protest of the Pa. Game Commission's deer management program. We hunted Tioga State Forest land, and saw several deer. I think you need to actually get outside your vehicle and take a walk in the woods. The deer are there if you care to do some walking.
Bob, I have a tag for your area, so don't take all of the easy does before I get a chance. I hunt the Shohola area for deer and turkeys, and in the spring, fish the Delaware for shad. On occasion, I've enjoyed a draft at Roman's.
Happy Birthday, Bob. :) Good luck filling those tags!

thank you....zman....i live like 10 miles from shohola lake and hunt game land 180 with almost 12,000 acres....if ya feel like getting together i could show ya some good spots and hunt with ya....with 11 tags to hunt with i'll be taking as many as i can....with 4 deer last year we were eating venison till late july....i'll be out today and tommorrow after some sleep from my night job both days so wish me some luck.............bob

Pike Co. Bob, I appreciate the offer of a guided hunt on Game Lands 180. I never hunted that one for deer, but have been on it in spring for turkeys. Most of my hunts have been on 116 or 209. I won't get up to Pike Co. again until the first Friday and Saturday of buck season and will be hunting with friends who have a camp down river from Shohola. I have an antlerless tag for WMU 3D, and will carry the flintlock out of stubbornness and the principle of the thing. Good luck filling your tags and freezer.

i know where those two are also....if anything changes let me know....................bob
