I have been reading non-fiction pertaining to southern and eastern Africa, circa 1830-1875. Among facets I find interesting are [nearly complete] equipment lists for safaris and explorations - and carrying/use of monster side arms that are howdahs. While I understand howdah pistols originated in British India, hence their name, they were used also in Africa, particularly during the percussion era.

The only cap lock resembling a grotesquely overweight howdah pistol I am aware of being currently available is Pedersoli's. Does any American custom gun builder make one - or is willing to make one?

I just got a pair of locks (left and right) on ebay to build one of those. This will be my first build. I have been doing some resto's. Looking for barrels.

I have to get some pics up soon.

The best thing to do, would be to ask a builder. I'd suggest one who does double guns. Process is the same as a double barrel shotgun.
I'm a builder, but of single guns only. You really need to be set up for soldering and regulating those barrels. Be prepared for the expense. It will be high.
