Hello, I have found an old flask at a gunshow. It is complete except the spou/charger and spring. Its made by the American Flask and Cap Co. Can anyone tell me the approx age of this? Any other info would be usefull as well. Thanks.

According to THE POWDER FLASK BOOK , Bonanza Books the American Flask and Cap company was originally organized in 1857. It combined the American Flask Company of Meriden, Conn and a concern manufacturing Hick's Percussion caps.

"The American Flask and Cap Company was first listed in 1857-1858 at 52 Beekman Street, New York City...The business was similarly listed until 1869-70." (p 101)

zonie :)

It's a plain flask, fairly large about 7". From other websites they describe it as leather wrapped, but this one appears to be non-metal, almost like a pasteboard. Its in good shape otherwise. I paid four bucks for it. I was going to let my seven year old play with it until I found the company logo. Thanks much.
