Since I operate Running Boar at Friendship, I don't have the opportunity to get whomped, I mean participate, in the Forum Woodswalk, even though it's only a stones throw from my range. Therefore, to get in on some of the fun, I'd like to invite any and every forum member to participate in the first-ever Forum Running Boar competition.

For this first-time event, I'll run the event for all eight days, and whoever wins, gets bragging rights as well as praise and back slapping here on the Forum. I don't have a traveling prize yet, but I'm looking for a metal beer stein featuring a Boar, which could be shipped without fear of breakage. (But I am open to suggestions or donations of a prize).

Just to make it more interesting, whoever shoots on the opening Saturday and has the highest score, wins two pounds of bacon, bought and paid for by Yours Truly. Just let me know how to track you down on Saturday afternoon or evening, and I'll deliver the bacon to you.

Here's how I see it working: when you come to Running Boar to register and shoot and you buy either of the 2 matches (flint or percussion) I'll put your name and forum moniker on a list of participants. You'll know your score and standing before you leave the range. At Forum Woodswalk there really isn't a chance for re-entry, but quite frankly I'm looking for some company up on the hill, and will allow re-entries.

Questions? Ask away and we'll work our way through them. See you there! We'll be open Noon to 4pm on opening weekend, and 9am to 3pm Monday to Saturday. Cost is $4.50 per match.

Shoot Running Boar! It's fun, and you'll learn some new cuss words!

One of the great benefits of operating the Running Boar is that I don't have to shoot against Master Blaster at Woodswalk. And his skill with a rifle carries over to the Running Boar.
He held the national high score for awhile, but was bested at the next shoot by a hotshot Marine veteran.

Running Boar is like that. Somebody walks up the hill out of the blue and smokes the competition. New high scores are routine, because the event is new enough that there's still plenty of room between high score and a perfect score.
