Another curiosity.

This pistol came with the one i posted earlier. Now before y'all snap on me look at the pictures. I believe it's a break down percussion pistol in less than 22 cal (a .22 doesn't fit in bore), but I can't see putting powder, patch?, and ball down that small hole. It may be Italian made by EIG? Any thoughts or info will be appreciated. Thanks.

The ELG over an asterisk proof mark is Belgian.

Good catch Hawk54 on the ELG proof ID, thanks, it's definitely one of theirs.
That proof was used from 1810 to 1853.

Parlor pistol, using a cap to propel the lead ball or pellet. It’s not a reproduction, it’s the real thing! You would place a thick plank in the fireplace , tack a target on it, and pop away! If the bore is good, they are a popular collectible!

ELG = Liege, Belgium proof stamp.
The barrel was proof-tested in Liege, Belgium, and passed.
Other folks will have a lot more info, but this is a start.

EIG Cutlery imported from Italy muzzleloading pistols, revolvers and unmentionables. They possibly imported muzzleloading rifles but I have never seen one. They were bought out by Firearms Import & Export (aka F.I.E.) sometime in the 90’s.

I was wrong in my post regarding the proof mark being EIG. It is actually ELG as pointed out by Hawk54 making it a Belgian made percussion pistol.

If that IS an original, it’s in amazingly good condition. That’s a really good find. Even if it’s a repro, it’s still a good deal. If it’s smaller than a .22, I would really like to know what caliber it is, as well. That’s one tiny looking bore…

my son has a modern made one on his we put 1-3 grains of 3f goex in and use .177 pellets about a inch and a half of penetration in a phone book at 15 feet. i don't ever recall if he tried to fire it with just the cap. his is a Bondini
