This one was done somewhere between Pensacola Fl. and Grand Rapids,Mi. with a half a dozen side trips along the way. Just got home this morning and put the finishing touches on it.

Hay did you notice someone put the lock on your rifle on the wrong side?-- sorry just a late saturday nite thing.

YeH, the lock is on the wrong side, but being the talented person that I am I can miss stuff off both shoulders :shocked2: :shocked2: :rotf:

Thanks for the comments guys.

Ron if you was in Pcola you was only about 20-25mi. from me.

I got to ask how do you do the shape of the horn itself?
Did you flatten the horn before shaping?
Were the walls of the horn really that thick to allow for the taper in shape?
Or did you make that taper before the main part of the horn some other way?
I ask because it looks like it taper in at least a half of an inch as it necks in to the main part of the horn! There would have been alot of thickness to the horn. :hmm: and how do you know where to stop so you don't go to deep with that much taper.

I really like it but it sure brings out a lot of questions to me! :hatsoff:

Cliff, I will try to answer your questions the best I can.
The original horn had an odd shape. It came up toward the tip like normal and then did a hard right turn. It was fairly thin until just before the turn and then thickened up all at once for the last 1 1/2 in.almost like the teat on a cow.
It looked like junk when I first looked at it, then it started talking to me and the shape came out as I filed it.
I was a little worried about the thickness at the bend or shoulder but I use a small flexible shaft light on the inside which after some practice gives you a good idea of how much thickness you have left.
I don't think a normal horn would work because the thickness goes up to uniformly. This was a case of a very odd horn and as far as I can tell it came out the way it wanted to.
Hope that helps.

Ron, I appreciate the info and the insight on the light thing, that is something I will have to remember! :hmm:

It really turned out nice and I like how you let it talk to you!
