I bought this horn blank at Friendship this year and finally got around to doing something with it. Fred Woods ( AKA WOODY) turned my applied tip out of a scrap piece of wood, it's secured with some epoxy and a couple of toothpicks epoxied as well. I used an old piece of Walnut for my base plug and it is secured by some wooden dowel rods ( from my last shiska bob dinner) I wanted this horn to look as if it was used quite a lot... but not antiqued. The scrimshaw is "Ok"and not as fancy as others I have seen on here, BUT It's all mine.. I may add some more to it later, as the mood strikes me.What ya all think? Also what time period would this fit into? Any and all comments welcome!

"Liberty" pretty much says it all.
Is there anything scrimmed on the other side?

the other side is blank as of yet..Im kinda wating to get some down time..or to have an idea pop into my head before I just start scribbling. This stuff takes time ya know!..

I think on the other side you should put "Liberty or Death 1776".

And then give it to me!

it took me until now to see what your forum name really was..I always thought it was LORD1776.. and never noticed LorD as in "Liberty or Death".. VERY clever! I like that!
BUT.. no I will no give my powder horn to you!. :blah:

Yeah, I've used it in numerous ways over the years. My cars license plates are "LD 1776". Not enough room to fit the "or" on them darn it. Have an email address that incorporated it also.

Hey wait a minute. We both have red and white stripes and the same last name. You must be from the southern branch of the 1776 family.

Actually I, meaning Rifleman 1776, was born at the age of 32 in southern Indiana at an area known as Laughery Valley where Friendship sets. That would have been about 1970 with full indoctrination completed at Friendship, July 1976. True, and a whole 'nuther story. :patriot:
