Up for sale is a nice, solid, and fully enjoyable (shootable!) original rifle. The rifle is not marked in any way.
Stats:
The barrel is 13/16" ATF, and 35" long
The OAL is 52"
The LOP is 13.75" to the front trigger
It has 3.5" of drop at the heel
It weighs 8lbs 14oz
The bore has a 4 groove rifling, and measures approximately .335" land to land
The bore is bright, with minor pitting near the muzzle. The Golcher lock operates as it should with a solid lockup. The original sear was damaged, so it sports a new one, from an L&R model 100 lock. There is no half **** position. This is fairly common for many rifles of the era with dual set triggers. The triggers work as they should, and are nice and smooth. It has a new nipple, which is the standard 1/4-28 thread. The threads in the bolster are in excellent condition. The original ramrod is included, as well as a fitted hickory one used for loading. The hickory rod is unfinished. It also has a poured pewter nose cap.
I shot this about 25 times yesterday, and never had an issue. I was using .320" and .323" ball with .015" patching and spit lube. I never had to swab between shots, nor was it ever hard to load. The windage is dead on, but it was shooting just a tad (2") high at 25 yards.
The stock has a triangular spot that looks like it has been repaired. It can be seen in the pictures. There is a small check forward of the lock bolt hole. It does not widen with lock bolt tension.
Asking 650+shipping.
Can be shipped broken down so a smaller box can be used. Packing will be excellent, and will ship fully insured.
Any questions, fire away!
